Incase you don’t already know about the palm oil situation, and why it’s a good idea to avoid purchasing beauty brands that use it (or its derivatives) as an ingredient in skincare and beauty products, please consult related posts that deal with the severe environmental impact that massive palm oil plantations are causing.

The Problem of Ingredient Labeling

Consumers must understand just how dire this situation has become; so much so that palm oil and its derivatives are used in common foods, drinks, dressings, sauces, chocolate, pet products, household cleaning supplies, soaps, detergents, personal hygiene and beauty items including the majority of cheap cosmetics, shampoos, conditioners and anti aging products, even many that are so called organic and “natural”. For many consumers who wish to avoid eating, drinking or using palm oil products, the situation is complex because manufactures don’t always use the words “palm oil” when listing ingredients on labels. Since many chemical / natural substances are derived from palm oil, ingredient labels may list the following items:

Cetyl Palmitate / Octyl Palmitate / Elaeis Guineensis / Hexadecylic and Palmitic Acid / Hydrated Palm Glycerides / Palm Oil Kernal / Palmate / Palmitate and a variety of other ingredients that may all have the word palmitate somewhere in a compound name. Other deraviaties may include: Cetearyl Alcohol / Emulsifier 422 (or followed by a series of other numbers that usually begin with a 4) / Glyceryl Stearate / Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate / abbreviations such as SDS / NaDS / Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylaye / Sodium Laureth Sulphate / Sodium Lauryl Sulphates / Steareth – 2 / Steareth – 20 /Stearic Acid and many are simply allowed to use the broad term “Vegetable Oil” o cover all forms of palm oil and its derivatives.

The above list of possible ingredients exemplifies why it’s difficult for consumers, even those who wish to avoid using palm oil products, to know where to buy beauty brands that make quality eye creams and cosmetics without having a degree in chemistry. To simplify shopping, here are some companies that make the best eye creams and skincare products, that (to the best of our knowledge) are organic and source their raw materials from sustainable plantations or totally avoid the use of questionable ingredients.

Maintain Healthy Skin While Shopping Selectively

Here are some of less known companies that offer solutions for healthy skin and do not use controversial ingredients like palm oil:

1. Dr. Hauschka Skin Care

Get started trying some lesser known makers of fine organic and natural products that promote healthy skin with Dr. Hauschka’s collection called Daily Face Care Kit that comes in a trial tin for just under $25. Why do we recommend Dr. Hauschka’s products? Because they’re holistic natural care for healthy skin, designed for individuals who want to stay away from chemicals and non-eco-friendly ingredients like palm oil.

Without perfumes and additives, the Hauschka collections are not as fragrant as highly scented brands, but the products are extremely effective. They restore and repair skin in a way that provides both short-term and long lasting results.

But, before investing in a larger bottle or jar of the best eye creams and facial treatments by Dr. Hauschka, give the complete facial kit a test run. It contains everything you need to cleanse, moisturize and restore the skin and allows you to know how they will react with your skin type without investing too much.

The kit includes a Cleansing Cream that’s made from almond, chamomile, calendula and St. John’s wort / some Cleansing Milk that can remove makeup but is made from fermented grain, jojoba and almond oil / Facial Toner that’s a herbal blend of witch hazel and anthyllis to keep pores clear / a light Moisturizing Day Cream with calendula / another Quince Day Cream that’s light but a little richer with quince seed extract and beeswax to retain moisture / and a Rose Day Cream that’s soothing and ideal for dryer/ cold days when the skin needs a little extra help.

We also recommend Dr. Hauschka Eye Contour Day Balm – one of the best eye creams available for the price, which is made with Castor Oil, Peanut Oil, Beeswax, Carrot Root Extract, Apricot Oil, Calendula and other essences and extracts. A jar costs around $52, but will last about 9 months because its highly concentrated.

Try other unique items like the Dr. Hauschka Normalzing Day Oil that costs under $30 and is available for sale online.

All the ingredients in the best eye creams, day creams, cleansers and skin revitalizes are made with organic extracts from plants grown biodynamically.

2. Trilogy Botanical Cleansers and some of the best Eye Creams

Although only a few Trilogy healthy skin products are available in the United States, one of the items is the Botanical Body Wash. It’s SLS free (which means no palm oil derivatives) and instead uses a blend of essential oils and extracts such as the New Zealand pepper tree called kawa kawa that stimulates circulation while cleansing. It also contains the essence of Indian alma fruit known to rejuvenate skin cells. Lavender is another of its ingredients, as well as chamomile, rose geranium oil, frankincense and other oils and extracts.

The Trilogy facial products line includes one of the best eye creams, simply called Eye Contour Cream, sold in a tube. It helps to restore healthy skin in the eye area using aloe vera as a base ingredient. It reduces the signs of aging, helps with fine lines and puffiness, soothes tired or irritated eyes and offers firmer skin to the delicate eye region. The ingredients in the best eye creams that Trilogy manufactures include: aloe, rosehip oil, almond oil, evening primrose, jojoba oil, cocoa butter and avocado oil, as well as shea butter, grapefruit seed extracts and vitamin E.

Healthy skin is about getting the nourishment it needs to repair itself and produce collagen so the area remains smooth and firm, able to diminish fine lines and stop wrinkles from becoming a problem. That’s where ingredients such as avocado and almond oil come in, and why carrot and rosehip extracts are used instead of harsh chemicals.

Try the best eye creams and body care products made by Trilogy and find out for yourself how it feels to have healthy skin, naturally.

Another of the best anti aging cream formulas is the Trilogy Vital Moisturizing Cream that’s light enough to be used day or night. It’s formulated with vegetable glycerin, organic rosehip oil, almond oil, aloe, lavender oil and other extracts that are gentle on the skin yet powerful to restore elasticity and retain moisture. It can be applied a coupe times a day, and is ideal after using one of the Trilogy cleansers. Because Trilogy cosmetics are made from botanical ingredients, their creams absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feeling, and the antioxidants and essential fatty acids repair and renew even dry or stress skin.

Although the Trilogy healthy skin collections aren’t cheap, they’re no more expensive than the leading cosmetic beauty brands that contain chemicals and ingredients you’ll want to avoid such as palm oil. The majority of Trilogy creams are under $50 (and items like the booster serum are just $44), but because they’re highly concentrated, a single jar or tube of rejuvenating serum or eye cream will last a very long time.

Please consider that when you choose which beauty brands to support, many of the cheap cosmetics houses (that produce more affordable skincare lines) will be forced to use cheaper ingredients such as palm oil as emulsifiers or to give their eye creams and anti aging products that creamy texture we’re accustomed to. It’s a terrible cliché to say “you get what you pay for”, but when it comes to palm oil free beauty brands it’s a cliché worthy of remembering.
