Three Eyebrow Styles for Women

Of the five main eyebrow styles for women only three are really versatile for a variety of face shapes and offer a natural low maintenance look. The highly angled shape, like an inverted V, is only suitable for a few women, and the flat brow is seldom the most flattering. That leaves the rounded brow, the curved design and the soft angled style.

The rounded brow is easy to achieve and maintain because it doesn’t have a high arch. It should be shaped by following the natural brow contour with a low start and a finish that ends almost at the same place where it began – not flat but with a smoothly rounded shape. Use a stencil with a low arch to get this soft look. Although the rounded design is one of the most common eyebrow styles for women with oval faces, it shouldn’t be chosen if your face is round or if you have very small eyes.

The curved design is a little more difficult to create without professional help or a really good stencil, but is one of the best eyebrow styles for women who want a groomed look that doesn’t appear like they’ve tried too had. Professional women appreciate this brow shape because it gives form without screaming for attention. The curved shape starts out wide, gradually curves up a little then curves back is a soft downward line and ends gently pointing outward. If it were drawn by a child it would resemble a wiggly worm, but when done with a professional template, is very smooth and has a subtle curve.

The gently angled brow shape is a variant of the regular angled one, just that the high peeked arch is softened to look less theatrical. It’s suited for ladies with a round face or anyone who can do with a little lift. To get the softly shaped arch with a bit of a peek but not too much, I can’t overemphasize the need for using a stencil or template.

Once you know which of the three shapes will bring out the best of your facial features, and you have a stencil that works, all you need are a few tweezes to get it started, a little wax to clean-up the stray hairs, and some eyebrow make up to match your natural hair color. Usually a combination of two shades of powdered color is good, or a soft eyebrow pencil that can be used to fill small gaps using hair-like strokes, or a tube of tinted eyebrow gel. The best eyebrow makeup, in terms of lasting a long time and not running or smudging, will be a waterproof tinted gel or a colored eyebrow cream. If you do go with powdered eyebrow makeup or a soft pencil, be sure and set the color and shape with a waterproof eyebrow gel or a bit of finishing wax.
